(no subject)

Am back. Thanksgiving was lovely and cold up in Chicago. Got little sleep, to prepare me for this week and next week. I have So Much To Do.

So I'm going to give myself more to do.

Does anyone want anything for Christmas? I can make icons, write drabbles, and sometimes do fanart. *pokes flist* Whatchoo want for Christmas?

(And Alana? I already have your gift. I'll be mailing it to you before Christmas, along with your souvenirs all the way back from this summer. *sheepish*)

In other news, I found a warestone today as it was staring at me from just off the sidewalk. It's a perfectly smooth quartz pebble. It now resides in my pocket.

*waves at warestone*

Everyone say hi to whichever side might be watching!

In Susan Cooper's The Dark is Rising sequence, warestones are sometimes (once, really) used by the Light and Dark to moniter a specific place. (aware stones, 'warestones. Simple corruption, dropping of vowels.) The one in canon was a small, perfectly smooth quartz pebble. The Dark was keeping watch over a place and its inhabitants through the stone, but later on the Light was able to use the Dark's warestone for plot advancement and such.

I was walking to class today and saw a perfectly smooth white quartz pebble, and my first thought was of the warestones.

Yes! Yes, you do!

They totally rock!

$5.99 a book at most places! Five books! Wonderful books that will never get old, except for those that fall to pieces after too many readings....
