Yesterday at band, one of our tuba players had to apologize to one of the drum majors for calling her a bitch. Problem is, she is one. The only reason he had to say he was sorry was because she told her father and the director didn't want to lose the patronage and support of one of the more influential band-parents. He said something along the lines of "I have an announcement. Sarah, I want to say I'm sorry for calling you what I did. I should not have done it. I'm sorry I embarrassed you, as I embarrassed myself. I'm sorry to the band for causing trouble and hurt feelings." I, who know this tuba, know what he should be saying.

Tuba: (as he should have said it) "I have an announcement. Sarah, I'm sorry for telling the truth that everyone already knows after having to deal with you for four years. I'm sorry for speaking up with my opinion in this free country in which we live. I'm sorry for embarrassing you and spilling the information you thought no one knew. And I embarrassed myself in thinking that you didn't already know you were a bitch. I'm sorry to the band for wasting your time with this forced apology."

That is what he should have said.

On a more upbeat note (no pun intended) our band t0talli r0x0rz my s0x0rz. We showed all the other bands how such good sports we are by marching exhibition instead of competing in the marching contest. i.e. we marched the other bands into the dirt, but didn't compete, as it's not good sportsmanship to horribly beat the other bands who are marching in the competition that you're hosting.

Thursday night I went to a history lecture given by Professor. H. W. Branz from Texas A&M. My gosh, that man is Professor Will Stanton without the glasses. He's a history buff who has written around 18 books, talks like he knew the founding fathers of our country, and every-so-often runs his hand back through his brown hair to keep it out of his eyes. I didn't hear much of the lecture, as I was hanging on his every movement, not his every word. He was very enthusiastic about his subject, and had a very archaic way of talking. So either he's 1) one of the Dark trying to trick me into thinking he's Professor Will so I'll trust him so he can blast me into oblivion for what I've written about the Dark in the MST, 2) Professor Will trying to get the chance to blast me into oblivion for what I've written about him in the MST, or 3) one very knowledgeable history professor who is wondering why I'm looking at him half in awe, half in fear, and 1/8th in wistful hope. I think I scared him.

Hm, I think I'll definitly have to attend Texas A&M and major in history. ^_^. Poor Professor H. W. Branz, you probably frightened the poor man (or should I say immortal? Its possible...)

Hooray for your band! I guess band camp really helped you....come together as a band. :p

I LOVE this man's work. The Devil We Knew: Americans and the Cold War is sitting on my bookshelf right now. *squeals*

Here is his curriculum vitae. And here is the Texas A&M website on him. *wibbles over the picture*
