Well, in another case of cosmic irony/karma, I have not been coherent enough to update my LJ about Prom until 10:30 the night after. If you're wondering why that is, I'll tell you. It's been a long weekend. Though I am coherent enoug to update my LJ, I'm still not up to snuff for daily life.

Here's how it went.

Friday: At two I had my nails done for Prom, and man did it hurt. The guy doing them decided that my cuticles were an abomination unto Nuggan or some such and decided to chisel them from existence. They still hurt, two days later. Mom finished my dress for Prom. Lovely!

Saturday: Woke up at ten and went ( I swear it took me three tries to type "went". I kept wanting to put an "H" in there) to pick up Rance's boutinere, um... bootinear, errr.... flower pin thing and to get my hair done for Prom. My hair was v. curly, though not as frizzy as it would be had I tried it myself, amazingly. Around four-thirty I started getting ready to go to dinner up in Hot Springs with Rance. After a million pictures, Rance arrived and we took some more pictures and left for dinner. The restaurant at the Arlington was lovely, the server was new and a bit funny, and the chef was an ex-marine who was really loud in a quiet restaurant. Great food and wonderful company. We told everyone we had gone to the hotel before Prom, and just didn't mention that it was just for dinner.

Prom was really hot. Not in a good way. Everyone was sweltering. Quite a few of the dresses were pretty, though they were overshadowed by the flourescent and gaudy menaces that patrolled the party. The fire-alarm went off when someone burned some popcorn at the party in the other part of the building we were in. Took more pictures. Whee. Pulled a favor from our G/T teacher and quickly changed out of prom stuff into more sensable garb, i.e. jeans, shirt and flip-flops.

Oh, almost forgot, my dress was really dark blue shimmery material. The top was one-sleeved with blue beads along the bottom and a see-through blue gauze-type material for the sleeve. V. nice, in my opinion. V. hot, though. Anyway.

At Project Prom, there was much fun. Inflatable-boxing ring fights (Rance v. Me, Alana v. Sarah, Jesse v. The People of the United States), the Inflatable obstacle course, Bingo (Alana and I won $10 each), blackjack, ERS, BS, Spades, Poker, signing the Senior wall with Shakespearian quotes, Rance's caraciture looking like Mic Jagger, John Carr winning a microwave, Alana winning sunglasses and an alarm clock radio thing ( I didn't get a good look at it), Rance (against all probability) winning a DVD player that he has no use for, and me winning a 6-CD stereo. Whew. Then we left at 4:30 AM.

Sunday, Technically: We (John Carr, Sarah, Jesse, Nick, Rance, Alana, and I) went to Waffle House, planning on eating a v. early breakfast, but they were cleaning the grill, so we couldn't get food. ( I didn't even know they cleaned stuff there. We (Nick, Rance, Alana, and I, as we had lost John, Sarah and Jesse to exhaustion and irate parents) ended up in Alana's car at Walmart eating spinach dip with Fritos and drinking chocolate milk for breakfast at 5:30. Much fun. Around six we all split and went home.

I had to go to church at 8, so I just stayed up. Then I dozed for an hour and went back to church for second service, as the handbells were playing and I have the melody part. I had to be there. @ 11:30 I crashed on teh couch and slept til five. Then I got up and went back to church for the potluck dinner honoring the graduating seniors. How ironic it's on the weekend of prom. *crumble* I dragged Rance with me.

Then I came home and updated my LJ before crashing once again. Hope everyone had a great weekend, especialllly [livejournal.com profile] raindrenched, [livejournal.com profile] rancedrai, and [livejournal.com profile] dogbotherer, who Alana has just informed me had her prom this weekend as well. Hope it went well.

SLeep.
